Comstor Announces Significant Enhancements to its GSA Schedule, Adding Cisco TelePresence and Physical Security Solutions

Tarrytown, NY, July 22, 2009 - Westcon Group, Inc., the leading specialty distributor in networking, convergence, security and mobility, announced that its Comstor business unit has made significant enhancements to its GSA (General  Services Administration) schedule 70.

These enhancements consist of over 24,000 new Cisco products, including the Cisco’s TelePresenceTM system and Cisco’s comprehensive physical security portfolio. Comstor is the only Cisco GSA schedule backed with Cisco authorization for Cisco branded hardware products.

Last year, total spending in the GSA schedule 70 category was $15.7 billion. This year, Comstor expects a robust Federal buying season, especially in light of the recently passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), which committed the U.S. Government to spending $787 billion in the U.S. economy over the next three years.

Andy Banks, vice president North America, Cisco sales, Comstor, commented: “Comstor’s knowledge and range of experience in the Government IT sector is unmatched by any other distributor.  In addition to being the sole authorized GSA schedule holder with Cisco products on its contract, we recently introduced our New Start America program—this helps government resellers take advantage of the multi-billion dollar opportunity that has been made available through the ARRA Act passed earlier this year.”

“As technologies such as Cisco’s TelePresence begin to find their place in the federal, state and local governments, it is increasingly important for government VARs to access a contractual vehicle that accommodates these and other transformative technologies,” said Ken Presti, president and founder of Sunnyvale, CA based Presti Research and Consulting. “Comstor has expertise in both the GSA schedule as well as in Cisco’s advanced technologies, making them an attractive choice for resellers wanting to do business with the U.S. Government.”

Comstor’s GSA schedule program is available to Cisco Premier and above certified resellers selling to the federal, state or local governments.
